THE NEW YEAR
Kentish Lions club is looking forward to putting 2020 behind us.
While the future is looking brighter, opening borders will no doubt incur the occasional Covid - 19 in our community, the new contact tracing and quarantining rules will allow life to continue pretty much as it did before. Of course there are still rules that are basic to our health and safety, such as dining with social distancing. To that end we have had dinner meetings at various other venues seeking greater space between us.
Of course there was no Christmas Parade this year. Lions helped out with the Carols by Candlelight in Sheffield's beautiful King George V Park which was a great sucess.
Kentish Lions also ran the Kentish Neighbour Day just before Christmas. Around 250 people attended over the 3 hours. The idea of Neighbour Day was to lift the mood after a long winter lockdown with a Covid-safe event. However shocking weather on the planned day in October saw the event cancelled and moved to 18/12. Lions arranged their food van with free sausage sizzle for the day, performers Shasa Bolton, the Kentish U3A Ukulele group and Lion Phil Daniell entertained the crowd. A jumping castle, rock painting and other activities also made the day a success we can be proud of.
After a little break over the holiday period, Lions will resume in the second half of January.
